Production Machinist - Printable Description

The position requirements for the Machinist positions are as follows:
Education: Two year degree in Machine Tool Technology, or a high school diploma/general education degree (GED) with equivalent experience is required.
Experience:Minimum of two years’ experience as a Machinist preferred.
Specific Technical Knowledge:

  • Experience producing tight tolerance components in a production environment.
  • Experienced in manual and CNC type machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools.
  • Experienced in manual and CNC type machine set-ups, monitoring, change-outs, etc.
  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of inspection devices to inspect components produced.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, ability to work cooperatively with other team members.
  • Willingness to learn and at times teach others.

Reports To: Value Stream Leader
Location: Elmira, NY
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the set up and operation of both conventional and CNC machining equipment to produce components efficiently and accurately. The machinist will load / unload parts on machines to support maximum spindle utilization time, perform in-process inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to customer requirements, monitor parts as they are completed on the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing work area practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and supports team members in these processes. While performing all duties and responsibilities, the Machinist will at all times, model Hardinge Inc. values and principles and act in a manner consistent with the Hardinge Inc. Electronic Technician - Printable Description

The requirements for the Electronic Technician position are as follows:
Education: High-school graduate plus two year technical college with a specialization electrical/electronic education or equivalent experience. Knowledge of troubleshooting/repair, alignment/adjusting methods and techniques, simulators and other test apparatus
Experience:Two to three years in performing a wide range of testing, assembly and associated duties following standard procedures. Experience with troubleshooting CNC controls. Familiarity with mechanical disassembly and reassembly of sliding, rotating and/or power driven equipment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to interpret assembly drawings, use mathematics as well as mechanical principles to solve machine tool assembly tasks. Good personal computer and communication skills are necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of electrical/electronic operations on all machine products. Assist in the introduction of new products to final assembly. Work with engineering personnel on updates or prototypes; assist in establishing procedures for all line operators
  • Must be able to support off shift operations

Workholding Customer Service Representative - Printable Description

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for working with customers, distributors, and Hardinge field personnel to enter quotes & orders and complete customer service activities following company guidelines to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Interaction can take place over multiple channels including in person, over the phone, e-mail or live chat. The requirements for this position that reports to the Workholding Sales Manager are as follows:
Education: Associate’s Degree in a related field preferred
Experience:Three to five years of related experience in a call center customer service environment preferred. Excellent customer service skills and computer skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word preferred. Working knowledge of JD Edwards is a plus. Manufacturing background or knowledge a plus.

  • Process quotes and perform follow-up activities to generate sales

CNC Machinist/Programmer - Printable Description

The requirements for the CNC Machinist/Programmer position are as follows:
Education: Two year degree in Machine Tool Technology, or a high school diploma/general education degree (GED) with equivalent experience is required. Formal training in CNC programming is a plus
Experience:Minimum of three to five years’ experience as a Machinist preferred plus additional training in CNC programming
Specific Technical Knowledge:

  • Experience producing tight tolerance components in a production environment
  • Experienced in manual and CNC type machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools
  • Three to five years of experience with CAD/CAM (AutoCAD, Inventor, MasterCam, SmartCAM or equivalent software programs)
  • Experienced in manual and CNC type machine set-ups, monitoring, change-overs, etc.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the CNC programming, set up and operation of CNC machining equipment to produce components efficiently and accurately. The machinist/programmer spend approximately 30% of his/her time developing CNC programs and approximately 70% of his/her machining parts, also, perform in-process inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to customer requirements, monitor parts as they are completed on the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs relatively small production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.

New Product Design and Development Engineer - Printable Description

The New Product Design and Development Engineer will focus on working with customers to create new and innovative Workholding designs for both the Hardinge and Forkardt product families. The requirements for this position that is located in our Engineering Department are as follows:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
Experience:A minimum of 5 years of design experience in 3D CAD modeling (Solidworks preferred) along with experience with FEA and design analysis.
Specific Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including turning, milling, grinding and heat treatment to ensure designs are efficient to manufacture
  • Knowledge of various metal materials for proper selection

Reports To: Product Development Manager
Location: The selected candidate's work location will be in either Elmira, NY or Traverse City, MI. Some travel will be required
Responsibilities:

  • Create design of components and assemblies in SolidWorks 3D software utilizing the full suite of tools within such as Finite Element Analysis and animation to evaluate designs for proper function, strength, repeatability and Factor of Safety
  • Determine proper material sizing and specifications for manufacturing process
  • Test and evaluate design once product is manufactured, to include creation of fixtures or equipment to perform validation testing
