Production Machinist - Printable Description

The position requirements for the Machinist positions are as follows:
Education: Two year degree in Machine Tool Technology, or a high school diploma/general education degree (GED) with equivalent experience is required.
Experience:Minimum of two years’ experience as a Machinist preferred.
Specific Technical Knowledge:

  • Experience producing tight tolerance components in a production environment.
  • Experienced in manual and CNC type machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools.
  • Experienced in manual and CNC type machine set-ups, monitoring, change-outs, etc.
  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of inspection devices to inspect components produced.

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the set up and operation of both conventional and CNC machining equipment to produce components efficiently and accurately. The machinist will load / unload parts on machines to support maximum spindle utilization time, perform in-process inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to customer requirements, monitor parts as they are completed on the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing work area practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and supports team members in these processes. Electronic Technician - Printable Description

The requirements for the Electronic Technician position are as follows:
Education: High-school graduate plus two year technical college with a specialization electrical/electronic education or equivalent experience. Knowledge of troubleshooting/repair, alignment/adjusting methods and techniques, simulators and other test apparatus
Experience:Two to three years in performing a wide range of testing, assembly and associated duties following standard procedures. Experience with troubleshooting CNC controls. Familiarity with mechanical disassembly and reassembly of sliding, rotating and/or power driven equipment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to interpret assembly drawings, use mathematics as well as mechanical principles to solve machine tool assembly tasks. Good personal computer and communication skills are necessary.

CNC Machinist/Programmer - Printable Description

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the CNC programming, set up and operation of CNC machining equipment to produce components efficiently and accurately. The machinist/programmer spend approximately 30% of his/her time developing CNC programs and approximately 70% of his/her machining parts, also, perform in-process inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to customer requirements, monitor parts as they are completed on the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs relatively small production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.

Senior Cost Analyst - Printable Description

The requirements for the Senior Cost Analyst position are as follows:
Education: BS in Accounting or Finance required.  CPA or MBA preferred.
Experience:

Responsibilities:   The Senior Cost Analyst position, will be the local cost accounting expert in our Elgin, IL facility.  This position is responsible for interfacing with the centralized accounting services group in Elmira, NY to budget, forecast, close books, understand variances, and control operating activities of the business.

 

  • Prepare cost estimates for customer project quotations.
  • Review performance variances against quoted costs.
  • Partner with the operation’s leadership team to drive success.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the company’s internal control system over inventory.
  • Review monthly cycle count adjustments, maintain excess and obsolete inventory database and perform analysis.
  • Responsible for expanded and efficient use of the company’s ERP system – extracting value from the investment
  • Work with Marketing and Operations to review cost changes for products.
  • Prepare monthly reporting for the operations including, but not limited to margin analysis by project, productivity and efficiency of direct labor.
  • Month-end close responsibilities include recording journal entry adjustments for sales, cost of sales, freight, intercompany in transit inventory, purchase price and scrap variances, and inventory reconciliation book to perpetual differences. Additionally, calculate and analyze monthly manufacturing overhead rates. Prepare and record various non-routine journal entries as required. Prepare account reconciliations. Assist NA Controller to understand variances to sales, cost of sales, and inventory as compared to plan and forecast.
  • Assist with the annual manufacturing budget process.
  • Liaise with the company’s internal and external auditors as required.

Turning Applications Engineer - Printable Description

Responsibilities:   The applications engineer is responsible for tasks in support of the selling process of our CNC machines.  Other responsibilities include:

 

  • Reviewing customer requirements to determine proper machine and process selection.
  • Conduct training classes occurring in-house or at offsite facilities as needed.
  • Perform machine demonstrations, time studies, feasibility studies and sample parts in support of sales.
  • Tradeshow and Open House application support as needed.
  • Assist in prototype machine PLC and option testing of mechanical and control software functions.
  • Technical phone support for customers, salespersons and distributors.
  • Attend training seminars or courses as needed to stay on top of technology.
  • Some travel is required.

Global Director Product Managment Grinding  - Printable Description

Responsibilities:  
This Global Director of Product Management will be responsible for leading a $100M machine tool product portfolio including developing the product line strategy and business plan, creating and maintaining product roadmaps, driving new product development, managing the product life cycle, and driving the execution of the business plan. Market Sensing & Strategy Development:

  • Engage with customers to better understand their needs and ensure our product plans are aligned to their strategic priorities
  • Articulate market trends, demand drivers, customer needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape
  • Conduct market segmentation exercises to develop market segment-specific strategies.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking
  • Define segment –specific value propositions that will drive market share gains
  • Develop product roadmaps that align with the business strategy

  • Define detailed product requirements and develop the business case to justify the project investment with an emphasis on common platforms and components
  • Work with R&D and operations in the development of new products to meet current and future customer requirements including driving the team’s focus on development schedule adherence (time and cost targets)
  • Plans product launches, including the development of marketing and sales plans, product promotion plans, sales tools, and training
  • Provide inputs to Marketing for the development of collateral, including e-commerce

Account Services Clerk - A/R

 

The Account Services Clerk - A/R is responsible for interfacing with customers through verbal and written correspondence, protecting the company’s investment in accounts receivable, and the accurate execution of accounting functions in the Hardinge Inc. ERP system, currently JD Edwards.  The requirements for this position that reports to the Elmira Controller are as follows:
Education: High school diploma required; Associates degree in a related field preferred. 
Experience:  Three to Five years in an Account / Finance setting preferred.  The position requires excellent communication/customer service skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is expected, and a working knowledge of an ERP system is preferred; experience with JD Edwards is a plus.

Location: Elmira, NY
Responsibilities:

  • Receive or initiate calls and e-mails working directly with customers.
  • Receive and / or download customer invoices and ensure the correct coding of invoices and payments for the ERP system.
  • Perform collection activities on delinquent accounts and take actions to resolve past due amounts, including account discrepancies, following up as needed.Organize and document collection activities and communications.
  • Reconcile customers’ accounts; process refunds, offset credit memos, make adjustments, etc.
  • Receive and properly code and enter incoming payments.
  • Enter data accurately into the ERP system.
  • Special reporting as may be required.
  • Support other accounting projects as directed.
