Corner View - J. Patrick Ervin President and CEO of Hardinge Inc.
The past 10 years at Hardinge have been nothing short of exciting. During this period we have steadily expanded our family of famous brands through strategic acquisitions, while at the same time, expanding the product lines within those brands…to meet the needs of our customers. Today, Hardinge has grown into a globally diversified supplier of turning, milling, grinding and workholding technology. We manufacture our products throughout the world, enabling us to be closer to all markets we serve. As we have for over 100 years, Hardinge continues to manufacture product in the USA at its world headquarters in Elmira, New York. In addition, we have state-of-the-art manufacturing operations in both Europe and Asia. And our list of brand names include many of the most famous names in machine tools - Hardinge, Kellenberger, Hauser, Tripet, Tschudin and Bridgeport. Now I’m excited to bring to life our first corporate magazine titled, “Super Precision and Productivity”. This publication aims to share the knowledge and expertise of the Hardinge group, with you, our valued customer. You know, it’s unique that Hardinge offers such a complete range of manufacturing solutions. From basic turning to the most advanced hard turning solutions available today. From standard milling, to lights out production vertical, horizontal and five-axis machine centers. And high precision grinding, we offer cylindrical grinders, jig grinders and the unique flexible grinding center concept, so we’re no stranger there either. In addition to machine technology, Hardinge leads the world in providing high-quality, high precision workholding devices. Within this product range Hardinge offers standard and designed per application “special” collets, chucks and programmable indexers. I must also take the opportunity to point out that all of this technology, brought to market by Hardinge, Inc., is supported by a worldwide network of engineering and service support. From applications support during product selection, to completely engineered solutions that include automation, to service and maintenance support required to ensure the productivity of your metal removal solution.
