New Low-Profile Rotary Table from Hardinge has 5C Collet Seat Built In.

The new Hardinge® GD160LP low-profile rotary table, with spindle clamp, offers accurate and dependable positioning of small and medium parts in machining operations such as milling, drilling, tapping, contouring and spiral milling. The GD160LP is a fully integrable, programmable rotary positioning device that saves on workspace without sacrificing performance. The mechanical head holds the workpiece, which is then positioned by programming angular movements into the all-digital servo control as a slave to a CNC machine, or directly into a CNC control in a true 4th-axis setup. The mechanical head features an A2-4 spindle nose for spindle tooling compatibility with A2-4 spindle CNC lathes, coupled with a precision-ground 160mm slotted faceplate. A power chuck can be mounted to the spindle, but more importantly, the spindle houses a 5C collet seat, which accepts a variety of 5C tooling including collets, expanding collets and step chucks that can be used with the optional collet closer. This provides additional gripping options and an opportunity for improved workpiece accuracy over standard fixture-mounted parts. The extended spindle nose provides optimum tool clearance, an important feature that gives you more machining options in your work envelope.
The GD160LP is equipped with a high-torque (100 ft-lb/136Nm) pneumatic fail-safe clamp, which prevents back driving, and adds a considerable amount of stiffness. Fast clamp and release provide increased parts-per-hour. The built-in clamp handles off-center drilling, cross-axis milling and other high-force cutting applications.
This spindle is based on the industry standard A2-4 spindle design that has been used in Hardinge lathe production for over a century. Stiffness or rigidity is one of the more important features of any system employed in the activity of machining operations and is the driving force for Hardinge-engineered rotary products. The Hardinge mechanical elements guarantee that the spindle will be accurate, repeatable, reliable and flexible to suit many different machining applications. The spindle carries a centerline from the machine bed of 5.00"/127mm, which keeps the unit small enough to fit on many machines. The spindle is hardened and ground for accuracy, and has a rigid design with two large, deep-groove ball bearings to support heavy loads and high-force cutting applications. The bearings have been separated by the gear to increase the distance between the pivot points of the spindle, which greatly decreases the amount of system deflection caused by machining forces. The Hardinge GD160LP rotary table uses a high-quality hardened gear system that has a 90:1 ratio achieved through gear and timing belt reduction. This type of gearing allows for an efficient transmission of high torque driving capability through the worm.
Wireless communication allows you to communicate with the control box, freeing you from being tethered to a cable. The GD160LP low-profile rotary table, like all Hardinge rotary products, is manufactured in the USA. For more information call 800-510-3161.
